It is almost Christmas (my favourite holiday) and it is getting very cold in Canada. As the seasons change, we tend to switch up our routines according to the temperature and our moods. I wanted to share some of the things I change to my beauty routine and my wardrobe in the colder months! Enjoy, xx.
Christmas to me is a very romantic time. The fairy lights and warmth of the season really inspire me to be a little more “moody” and romantic with my makeup and wardrobe. First thing that I tend to change when it gets cold out is actually my nail polish colour. Deep reds and purples and even the odd nude polish are my favourite accessory in the winter time. These two colours by ESSIE are my favourites (left: Bahama mama, right: jump in my jumpsuit).
My skin then tells me that it is time to add a little more moisture into my life so I have been loving this FAB Ultra Repair Cream for a thicker, more winter appropriate moisturizer for my normal skin. It doesn’t have a scent and it sinks really nicely into the skin. I use it morning and night and my makeup sits beautifully on top of it.
Another essential in the colder months (and all year round) is lip balm. I can’t live without it and it is in every coat, purse, and bag of mine.
I love a light base in the winter, especially when it is hydrating. The Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream and NARS tinted moisturizer are both very lightweight while still giving good coverage. They both give off a healthy/luminous finish that is beautiful for the dark winter months. They also both have SPF in them which is important not to forget during the winter. Most importantly they are both super hydrating, but you will need to set them with a powder if you want them to last all day.
I have been loving this scent AIR diGioia by Giorgio Armani for this winter. It is definitely not a spicy scent that I usually go for around Christmas. The scent transforms when you wear it, from very fresh then develops into a little more mature/deeper scent. Definitely run to Sephora and grab a sample of this one.
For my wardrobe, besides knitwear and sweaters (which I will link below), I have added a wool coat to my winter wardrobe. It is a cashmere/wool blend coat from Wilfred. It is long enough that it goes to about mid-thigh and is a dream to wear. I don’t have a picture of me wearing it yet but I will leave a link to it below!
Also, an essential is a good pair of winter boots. I have been through so many winter boots in the past and these ones are amazing. These UGG boots are perfect if you want something warm, but not too clunky. They have the inner sheepskin lining that most UGGs do, but they are so sleek and practical to wear. I apply mink oil to them the keep them waterproof and the leather soft.
Thank you for visiting my blog! Let me know if you guys would like to see a winter look book or something more food themed? I have a few events coming up so I will post about those soon! What do you guys love to add to your beauty routine in the winter? xo, K
