Valentines was two days ago and my instagram was flooded with posts about love and relationships. Although it is important to show your loved ones that you care everyday, Valentines is a nice excuse to go all out and be extra romantic. Lips are an essential part of a makeup look and around valentines, the red comes out full force. I wanted to show two great alternatives to a powerful red lip that can be worn everyday, or for those date nights that may end in….the lip products not being on just your lips anymore… Anyways here are my two favourite lip products, that transition perfectly from day to date night.
The first product is the Bite Beauty Lush Fruit Lip Gloss in Rambutan. This is my favourite nude lip gloss that is really makes any lip look so effortless. I sometimes wear it over a nude or pink lip liner to give a more opaque finish, but it has great colour payoff on its own. The consistency is a bit sticky at first, but once it warms up on your lips it is almost moisturizing and is very comfortable. Bite beauty is one of my favourite brands as it is Canadian, and they use super natural ingredients in all their lip products. If it is going near my mouth, I’d like to know that there isn’t anything harmful in it.
The colour is the exact same in the tube as it looks on your lips which is a very flattering nude. This gloss is perfect for day to date night because you can wear it easily during the day with makeup or no makeup, then when its time to go out in the evening, just reapply and maybe add some eyeliner or eyeshadow and you have a complete look. A nude lip gloss is so universal and adds the perfect extra touch to any makeup look. A great alternative to this colour (also more affordable) would be a NYX butter gloss, although it doesn’t have the same opacity. Still a great product!
The next lip product to take you from day to date night is the Burts Bees Lipstick in the colour Sunset Cruise. Thanks to Niomi Smart, this lipstick is definitely one of my favourites and is so underrated! It is a beautiful 100% natural lip product that acts kind of like a lip balm but has incredible colour payoff. If you’re going to be wearing a colour all day and again in the evening, you don’t want chapped flaky lips. This colour is so flattering on everyone and it is not so strong that it is a statement lip. A pink/coral lip is perfect for work/school and for a fun flirty look in the evening. Burts Bees is also a really affordable brand! This colour is a really fresh take on the red lip or a matte colour for a night out.
The colour doesn’t cling to dry patches and is so comfortable to wear. If I’m not feeling like wearing a ton of makeup one day I’ll throw on some mascara, this lipstick, and be out the door. I will definitely be picking up more colours.
